// Overview

About This Policy

TokenSignal is developed and published by Morton Software Group LLC.

This privacy policy describes how information is handled when you use the TokenSignal macOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Key Summary TokenSignal does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data. The application operates entirely on your local machine and makes no network requests on your behalf.
// 01

What TokenSignal Does

TokenSignal is a native macOS menu bar application that reads Claude Code session log files stored locally on your device at ~/.claude/projects/. It parses these JSONL files to compute token usage statistics, cost estimates, and session history, and displays that information within the app.

All data processing occurs entirely on your device. TokenSignal does not connect to any external server, API, or cloud service to perform its core functions.

// 02

Information We Do Not Collect

TokenSignal does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information
  • Your location or IP address
  • Your Claude Code session content or conversation data
  • Token counts, cost estimates, or usage statistics
  • Device identifiers, hardware information, or system diagnostics
  • Crash reports or analytics events
  • Any data from ~/.claude/projects/ beyond local in-memory processing
// 03

Local File Access

TokenSignal requests access to read files in ~/.claude/projects/ on your Mac. This access is used solely to parse session log files for display within the app.

  • File contents are loaded into memory for computation only
  • No file data is written to disk by TokenSignal
  • No file data is transmitted off-device
  • No data is retained between app sessions beyond standard macOS memory management
// 04

Network Activity

TokenSignal makes no outbound network requests as part of its core functionality. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, no telemetry pipelines, and no background sync processes included in the app.

The only network activity associated with TokenSignal is the initial download of the application from mortonsoftwaregroup.com, which is handled by your browser and subject to standard web server logging practices.

// 05

Third-Party Services

TokenSignal does not integrate with any third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers. The application has no dependencies that transmit data to external parties.

TokenSignal is not affiliated with Anthropic PBC. Claude Code and Claude are trademarks of Anthropic. TokenSignal reads log files produced by Claude Code but has no relationship with Anthropic's systems or services.

// 06

macOS Permissions

TokenSignal may request the following macOS permission:

  • File System Access — to read JSONL session files from ~/.claude/projects/. This permission is required for the app to function and is never used to access files outside the Claude projects directory.

No other permissions (camera, microphone, contacts, location, etc.) are requested or used by TokenSignal.

// 07

Children's Privacy

TokenSignal is a developer tool intended for adults who use Claude Code. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

// 08

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes in a future version of TokenSignal, the updated policy will be published at this URL with a new effective date. We will not retroactively change how previously collected data is used — because no data is collected.
